He had to work hard to accomplish it, but Angels lefty Tyler Skaggs fired six shutout innings, paving the way for the Angels’ 3-1 win over the Rangers at Angel Stadium. Skaggs limited Texas to four hits while walking three, striking out six. Luis Valbuena’s two-run double and Justin Upton’s solo home run helped make a winner of Skaggs, who lowered his ERA to 3.27 on the season. Righty Doug Fister recorded a quality start and Nomar Mazara hit his 14th homer in the Rangers’ losing cause.
